4 ways to prepare your yard for hot summers

Hey Dads, this Father’s day we want to share some tips and tricks to help you get your lawn ready for the hot, humid summer in Florida.

So whether you’re laying Bahia, St Augustine Floratam, or Bermuda sod, we have the best tips to give you a great-looking yard. Feel free to share with a friend or neighbor too.

Step 1: Water your lawn daily

Water in the morning, before the temperatures get too high. Make sure that you water no more than a quarter-inch of water at one time to prevent fungus and puddles.

Step 2: Scout your lawn for insects

Insects love the hot, humid weather in Florida. Walk around the yard once a week. If you see anything problematic, inspect the area more closely and treat the area.

Step 3: Look for signs of disease

Look for yellow or brown patches and pay special attention to the shaded portions of your yard that don’t dry as quickly as sunny spots.

Step 4: Fill in any bare spots with fresh sod

Even with great care, it is still possible to discover problems in your lawn. Restore your lawn with a fresh sod variety like St Augustine Floratam that is well suited for the Florida heat and humidity.
